Thad Nation is the founder and senior partner of Nation Consulting, where he serves as a senior advisor to CEOs and executive teams navigating high-visibility, high-stakes moments. He specializes in big, complex projects—situations with many moving parts, multiple decision-makers, and intense public scrutiny—where success depends on aligning strategy, stakeholders, and communications.

Thad’s work sits at the intersection of government, media, and organizational decision-making. He helps leaders translate complicated issues into clear narratives, anticipate stakeholder reactions, and execute disciplined communications that hold up under pressure. His advisory scope includes public-positioning and messaging architecture, government and public-affairs strategy, media strategy and spokesperson preparation, crisis and issues management, and rapid-response planning. He is often brought in when organizations need to align leadership, boards, counsel, and communications around a coherent plan—particularly when regulatory risk, political pressure, public controversy, or fast-moving news cycles are in play.

Before founding Nation Consulting, Thad built a career in government and politics, including work for three governors, executive-level roles across multiple state agencies, and experience with state and national political parties. He lives in Mequon with his wife, Dr. Anna Varley; their five children are grown.
